C3 FREIGHTER

I used a slitting disc in my mini-drill to cut the hull down, using the line of the moulding as a guide. The friction generated heat leaves a line of molten plastic either side of the cut, but this quickly solidifies and is easily cleaned off. Once the bottom of the hull had been removed, the cut was cleaned up with a large rough file and thick plastic sheet affixed to make a new bottom, this being trimmed to size with a sharp craft knife once the solvent had set.

The join was filled with Milliput two part epoxy filler, which can be sanded down when it hardens. The results can be seen in this picture, with the modified hull ready for a coat of paint.
