Using the "cups" as a guide, I drilled through the deck 0.7mm (the diameter of the supports). The cups can then be removed with a sharp scalpel at the same time as the guard rail is being removed. When construction commences, I will build down from the top - the top two sections of the superstructure will be glued together and the join line filled and smoothed. New deck supports from 0.7mm wire can the be fitted up through the holes in the deck and the underside smoothed before adding the next deck down and so on. Before then, however, there is an awful lot of guard rail to be removed...
